3D Design: Pop-up Book

This project focused on the construction of a pop-up book. A seemingly simple, child-like project that actually took a lot of dexterity to complete!

I chose a popular shopping street from my hometown Bangalore as the inspiration for this project. The form is adapted from the simpler 90-degree fold seen in many pop-up cards, but upgraded to unfold like a brochure and showcase two sides of the street. I added two moving autos as interactive elements to the pop-up book. Finally covered using cardboard and fabric, sealed with a painting of an 'auto', a tiny but mighty vehicle used to get around the city.

(3-dimensional work has interested me from a packaging industry point of view. In my final quarter at SCAD, I enrolled in a 3D Design class under Professor Stephen Gardner, who pushed us to explore creative, fun ways to use 3D design principles.)
